Our lesson program provides horses for those interested in learning dressage, which serves as the foundation for all equestrian sports.
About Kimberly Monk: From the age of 3, Kimberly Monk knew she wanted to dedicate her life to horses. She was first introduced to dressage in 1981 at the Moat House in Benenden, Kent, England, during her schooling. After passing the British Horse Society's Horse Masters and Instructor Exam, she returned to California to launch her career as a dressage instructor.
Kingdom of the Dancing Stallions quickly hired Kim for a show in California, featuring 36 Andalusian Stallions. This two-year experience provided her with invaluable insights into upper-level dressage training. She worked overtime without pay, simply to gain experience alongside the Spanish Riding School and German masters. Before turning 20, Kim had mastered every act, taken on backstage management, and assumed responsibility for all 36 stallions.
Captivated by the precision, discipline, and beauty of dressage, it became the guiding force in Kim's life. For over 30 years, she has relentlessly pursued her dream in this sport.
In 1985, while working as an instructor in San Juan Capistrano, Medieval Times hired her to train their horses and open the first Castle in the USA. For over two years, Kim juggled her training in San Juan Capistrano, CA, while also traveling to Anaheim to train 'Knights' and perform in two shows, six days a week.
After her work with Medieval Times and numerous show appearances, including five Rose Parades, Kim decided to focus on her competitive career. She began training her stallion, Temerario VII, under Hilda Gurney.
Kim and Temerario VII competed successfully, earning regional and USDF All-Breed awards from First Level to Intermediate II. By age 19, Temerario VII had become a Grand Prix stallion and was retired from competition after 1999. Following retirement, he remained sound and transitioned to a breeding stallion in Colorado.
Kim has trained with Spanish Riding School master Franz Rochowansky and other renowned international instructors such as Jill Hassler, Carl Hester, Conrad Schumacher, Harry Boldt, and Peter Borggreve, while also receiving guidance from judges like Axel Steiner.
Throughout her career, Kim has trained and competed on numerous horses at FEI levels, helping many young professionals, adult amateurs, and junior riders earn their USDF Bronze and Silver Rider Medals, realizing their championship dreams.
In recent years, she has successfully trained individual and team Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists for the FEI Junior Championships and the Region 7 North American Young Rider team.
